What causes contamination?
When you introduce mushroom spores or liquid culture into a grow bag, the mycelium is trying to colonize the bag so it can mature into healthy fruiting mushrooms. If outside mold or contamination also gets in the bag, it can take over the growing medium and destroy your chances of a healthy harvest.
Contamination usually originates from your ENVIRONMENT, SPORES/LIQUID CULTURE, or GROWING MEDIUM.
ENVIRONMENT:
Make sure to properly sterilize your hands, workstation, tools, and anything else that may come in contact with your growing supplies. 70% isopropyl alcohol works best. Turn off your ac/heater when working with mushroom growing supplies to reduce chances of air-borne contamination.
SPORES/LIQUID CULTURE:
When purchasing spores or liquid culture online, make sure you are getting them from a reputable supplier with excellent reviews.
GROWING MEDIUM:
Contamination can originate from the growing medium (such as grain or substrate) if it isn’t properly sterilized.
Through our proprietary sterilization process, hospital-grade sterility testing, and batch-tracking system, we guarantee that you will receive completely sterile products or your money back!
